In seventh grade, some of the other kids at school were extremely cruel to Spencer. I got so angry about it, I withdrew Spencer from the public school and homeschooled him for eighth grade.
That year, Spencer wrote this poem in a class he was taking with some other homeschoolers. When I asked him who this poem was about, he said he did not know.
The rain drums,
like horses running.
I feel navy blue.
He is gone.
The rain falls,
like running horses.
